As an educator, I am legitimately concerned about the impact that this has been having on the education of our children, even though there are other factors, not the least of which are violence, largely dysfunctional families, severe poverty and a lack of appreciation for education. This is the most blatant demonstration of how much as a nation we value education! Look at "the Campions", "the Immaculates" and "the Ardennes",( among others), that are virtually unscathed by either natural, family made or societal disorders and see how they compare to other schools where basically the same kinds of teachers are who get blamed for failure in the system but hardly any praise for our hard work. We NEED our schools to be used as schools. Use less money on some of these "white elephant" stadia and some to make shelters before the next school year starts but don't forget to repair the schools, in the process.
