Yes, I remember Hurricane Ivan very well.My entire roof in Mandeville was blown off and my house looked like a compartmentalized swimming pool.Lost a considerable amount of items, namely: furniture, books, computer, appliances etc.Had to relocate my sick mother to a friends house.Ivan was a monster as far as I am concerned. But I survived and was able to replace my roof and repair the house, and of course move on. Nonetheless, like everyone else in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean, whenever a hurricane, or, major tropical storm like Ivan looms, or, is imminent, severe trepidation and anxieties manfiest themselves on my part, and indeed most Jamaicans.Apparently, this psychology may be a constant and an on going one in the Caribbean.Because, we in the Caribbean basin are, supposedly, looking at the severe consequences of global warning and a possible thirty year cycle of intense and destructive hurricanes that/which may even make Ivan relatively tame.Excessive anxiety!!Yes, Indeed!!
