Gustav Aftermath: NWC services restored
The National Water Commission (NWC) said service has been restored to all major plants across the island.
Communications Manager at the NWC, Charles Buchanan, said the commission has been finding it difficult to access some rural communities.
He said water should be restored to communities served by the Hope River Plant by Wednesday.
According to Mr. Buchanan, the system was one of two plants significantly damaged during the heavy rains associated with Tropical Storm Gustav.
The other is the Rio Cobre pipeline in the Bog Walk Gorge, St. Catherine.
He said water would be trucked to affected communities until service is fully restored.
Mr. Buchanan is urging NWC customers to continue storing water, as there may be further disruptions in service even after normality has been restored.
He said an estimate of damages is still to be ascertained.
