Laura weakens over North Atlantic waters

At 4.00 a.m. the centre of Tropical Storm Laura was located near latitude 44.8 degrees north and longitude 47.6 degrees west or about 475 kilometres east-southeast of Cape Race, Newfoundland.
Laura is moving toward the north at nearly 26 km/h. This general motion is expected to continue with an increase in forward speed today and a turn towards the northeast Thursday.
Maximum sustained winds are near 75 km/h, with higher gusts. While, little change in strength is forecast during the next 24 hours. Laura is expected to lose tropical characteristics later today.
Laura is not a threat to Jamaica.
