THE SUNDAY GLEANER, MARCH 6, 2022 | CAREERS I4 The Payables Assistant is responsible for the disbursement of funds by the payment of loan advances/ disbursements and the processing of invoices for payment from suppliers of goods and services and the maintenance of the accounts payable records. The individual is also responsible for the receipting of sums received and the management of the petty cash float. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES •Prepares payment against suppliers’ invoices and ensuring accuracy and that the internal controls are followed •Enters all banking transactions to facilitate the reconciliation of all bank accounts. •Updates the purchase order listing on a monthly basis. •Reconciles accounts payable and accounts receivable sub-ledgers to the general ledger. • Prepares and files all returns relation to GCT andWTSS. •Manages all aspects of the petty cash process. •Enters all journals to the GL as required •Ensures all accounting documents are filed for processing and retrieval purposes. •Prepares lodgments for all bank accounts. •Responds to suppliers queries.
