Senior Financial Officer

* Management Information, Reporting, Planning & Analysis 
  • Preparing and developing Management Reporting by SBU & SSU, including customer and product profitability.
  • Perform various financial and business performance analyses (Deep Dives).
  • Develop, co-ordinate all financial and capex planning for businesses and functional units, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Gaining buy-in to accountable measures by executives
  • Ensure alignment of financial plans with the Bank’s Strategic plans.
  • Responsible for co-ordination of all aspects of financial planning by segment and functional unit rolling up to consolidated legal entity.  Requires understanding of trends, business opportunities, segment strategy and economic factors.  Set targets, present basis and spearhead negotiation with business leaders.
  • Accountable for the design and development of all ad hoc and ongoing financial reports and analysis to support executive decision-making. 
  • Accountable for the provision of all finance support to the functional areas/SSUs - to support ongoing management, strategic performance and investment decisions.
  • Responsible for annual Capital Expenditure Budgeting and monthly financial forecasting.
  • Responsible for the integrity of and interfaces between all financial systems including Smart Stream, Consolidations, the Cognos suite of products, FirstWarehouse & treasury systems.
  • Responsible for the integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts from the point of view of maintaining the associated structures (ensuring structures are always synchronized between the financial systems).
  • Ensuring that financial systems are working together effectively to support deadlines for preparation and distribution of financial information, including the management of month end and year end processes.
  • Ensuring that there are sufficient policies, procedures, and controls in place to support all financial systems and that the appropriate level of documentation supports all aspects of the Bank’s financial systems.
  • Managing all financial systems related projects, developments, application upgrades, implementation/ system integration etc.
Qualifications:
  • Management Reporting and business planning experience (at least 5 years).
  • Senior Financial Management experience in a banking institution (5-10 years post qualification)
  • Accounting designation (ACCA, CPA or other similar designation).
  • CFA or MBA Management or Masters in Finance an asset.
  • Prior experience working in / with financial institutions (5 years +).
  • Experience in the specific businesses would be an asset.
  • Proven track record demonstrating strong ability to manage and coordinate projects such as corporate planning.
  • Proven, well-developed team management and leadership skills.
  • Well developed analytical skills and modeling techniques.
  • Business performance measurement and management.
  • Highly developed analytical skills and thorough understanding of measurement concepts of business performance and management reporting and planning.
  • Comprehensive understanding of banking and specifically Financial Management of a bank
  • Strong influential and relationship skills. The successful candidate will be dealing with senior individuals in a variety of departments.
