Communications Analyst

Description:
  • Participates in the implementation of the corporate communications strategy
  • Design, management and implementation of the Country Office communications strategy, geared towards influencing the development agenda 
  • Promote public and media outreach and mobilize political and financial support for UNDP.
  • Preparation of statements/speeches/Op-Eds and other public statements for the Resident Representative.
  • Maintains a working relationship with the Regional Communications Manager.
  • Works in close collaboration with the Resident Coordinators Office, Programme and Operations teams, staff of other UN Agencies, UNDP HQs staff (Communications Office) ensuring successful UNDP communication strategy implementation.
  • Planning of internal and external strategies for communications and outreach
  • Implementation of the communications strategies and plans
  • Supervision of the design and maintenance of the UNDP web site, intranet
  • Support to business development
  • Facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing
Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in media relations, journalism, publishing, communications. Development/international relations related degree is an asset.
  • 3 years of relevant experience at the national or international level in public relations, communications or advocacy. 
  • Strong researching, writing and editing skills for print and electronic media. 
  • Experience in social networking platforms such as Twitter and Facebook and an understanding of internet communications strategies, blogging best practice, social media trends, techniques and information architecture is desirable. 
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages, good knowledge and experience in handling of web-based management systems.
  • Fluency in English
  • Should be capable of working with people of different national and cultural backgrounds
