* Centre for Hotel and Tourism Management, The Bahamas Faculty of Social Sciences
  • To provide administrative leadership and oversight for the Centre for Hotel and Tourism Management (CHTM) through the design, development and implementation of a vision and strategic plan that is consistent with the overall vision of the UWI.
  • To enhance the teaching and research capacity of the CHTM and work closely with the Senior Management team of the Mona Campus in enabling and sustaining an effective response to our studentsí changing needs.
  • To enhance the external engagement capacity of the Bahamas Campus, mobilizing resources which supplement those provided by the UWI- Mona Campus
  • Developing and sustaining key partnerships and collaborative mechanisms that allow the University to maximize the effectiveness of its presence in the Bahamas.
  • Developing and delivering innovative and, where appropriate,
  • customized programmes that contribute to the relevance, dynamism, creativity and innovation of the programmes offered by the UWI.
  • Developing and executing competitive research programmes
  • Developing new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the CHTM
Qualifications:
  • At least five years relevant experience in a reputable higher education institution at a relatively senior level, and possess a PhD in Hotel and Tourism Management or a related area.
  • Strong administrative and management skills, be a team player, and must possess strong executive presentation skills. 
  • Must be able to articulate and have the ability to present and influence at executive levels. 
  • Strong student focus and excellent communication skills are essential for success in this role. 
  • Proactive, goal oriented, able to manage complexity and be able to work independently.
  • Good team players with leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential, as is a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, service and technology application in the classroom. 
  • Innovative, committed, hardworking and enthusiastic with excellent subject knowledge and a sound understanding of the latest student-centered teaching techniques.
  • Possess a genuine interest in helping students and the ability to work effectively as a member of a team. 
  • Experience in developing and delivering programmes and courses by distance or online at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels will be an advantage.
NB: The successful candidates are expected to assume duties on August 1, 2013.
