The Caribbean Court of Justice Trust Fund

The Caribbean Court of Justice Trust Fund, headquartered in Port of Spain, Trinidad, was established to finance the biennial capital and operating budget of the Caribbean Court of Justice and the Regional Judicial and Legal Services Commission in perpetuity.


The Accountant is responsible for the financial operations of the Caribbean Court of Justice Trust Fund, including reporting, planning, managing and control of all financial-related activities, as well as assisting in the development of policies, systems and procedures to provide key financial information within a robust internal control framework.

The Accountant reports to the Executive Officer and performs a key role in the overall management of the Trust Fund.


1.Prepare IFRS-compliant financial statements for external audit. 
2.Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
3.Assist the Executive Officer in ensuring the integrity of all financial information through effective management of accounting operations, budgetary control, financial and management reporting, ensuring regulatory compliance.
4.Co-ordinate the annual audit process as the primary contact with the external auditor.
5.As part of the internal control framework, assist the Executive Officer in formulating and implementing any necessary improvements in financial regulations, policies and procedures.
6.Administer employee compensation benefits ensuring compliance with any applicable income taxation or other regulatory requirements.
7.Maintain appropriate insurance coverage in respect of relevant non portfolio assets.
8.Serve as a member of the Management team, and provide support in the development of the Trust Fund's strategic and tactical initiatives.


1.A recognized professional accounting designation (ACCA, CPA, CA) and 5-10 years of working experience, preferably within the financial services industry, demonstrating a progression in responsibility. A Master's degree in Finance or Accounting would be desirable. External audit experience would be an asset.
2.In-depth knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards, particularly those in respect of financial instruments.
3.Ability to work within a small, high-performing management team environment.
4.Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; strong analytical skills.
5.Strong technical skills including hands-on experience with accounting packages, Microsoft Office PC skills, and financial modelling. Knowledge of Peachtree is desirable.
