Description:
The University of the West Indies (The UWI) invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Director, in the Institute of Criminal Justice and Security.

Applicants should possess a significant record of achievement in independent research and have considerable experience in the design and implementation of projects. Preference will be given to applicants who have had success in attracting research funding, exhibited high productivity and expertise in their discipline and field of research, and who have demonstrated competence in quantitative research methods associated with Criminology and Criminal Justice.

The successful candidate is expected to assume duties September 1, 2020

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

The successful candidate must possess the capacity to provide strategic direction and vision to the Institute, effective listening skills, good interpersonal and organisational skills and a commitment to collaboration and shared governance.

Applicants are required to submit a curriculum vitae (inclusive of a statement on teaching and research interests) giving full particulars of qualifications, experience, the names and addresses of three (3) referees (one of whom should be from your present organisation) and copies of academic qualifications.

Qualifications:
QUALIFICATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
Applicants should have:

A PhD in Criminology, Criminal Justice or Sociology/Psychology;
A track record of distinguished, original and innovative work, with high quality publications in peer-reviewed international journals; on crime and/or issues in criminal justice;
Outstanding success in and wide recognition of professional activities;
Active membership in a reputable professional Organisation; and
Proven success in grant applications;
