Last week we talked about preparing for an interview, let us review what the
employers look for and the questions that you can be asked:
Employers look for

  • Capability

  • Potential

  • Genuine interest in the job

  • Genuine interest in the organization

  • Expertise

  • How do you relate to others

  • How do you deal with authority

  • Independent decision making

  • How you fit in socially

  • How you fit in technically


In turn you should identify clearly

  • What you want

  • Where you want to work

  • The work schedule

  • The work setting

  • The salary

  • Career goals


Some questions you may be asked in an interview

  • What were your courses of study?

  • What do you like about your present or previous job?

  • What has been your most rewarding work experience?

  • Why do you want to work for this company?

  • This job has a great deal of running around, how will you handle that?

  • How do you see yourself fitting in?

  • Where do you see yourself five years from now?

  • What would you do if you had to leave the job in two years time?

  • What is your career goal?


Some questions you may ask

  • Where does this job fit in the overall organization?

  • What duties am I expected to perform?

  • What are the growth possibilities?

  • What are the benefits that the company provides?

  • What are the working hours? Does the job involve staying after office hours?

  • What is the starting salary?

  • Does the organization provide training?
