An efficient you – some pointers

Features Coordinator Getting maximum efficiency at work is both desirable and also a challenge. There are some simple methods that can put you on the top. Some factors that we take for granted or just simply ignore. ![]() “Getting the optimum is both a simple task but given the complexities of modern day pressures there are simple things that tend to get ignored,” says Dr. Hame Persaud. He recommends some simple things that can increase efficiency. PLAN AND ORGANISE “ It is imperative that you organise your work within the 8 hours of your office time,” Dr. Persaud says. He says that a good night’s sleep is a catalyst to how the day goes, “try to get eight hours of sleep,” he says. “Having slept well, the 8 hours of work prescribed will be like 8,000 hours of effective and efficient work,” according to the physician, who has a special interest in stress management and authored a book on healthy living. “When one is out of shape physically and mentally and had no sleep,” ” he says, “it takes a whole week to do one day’s work.” DENTAL CARE “It may sound a very minor thing, but one needs take proper care of one’s teeth,” Dr. Persaud says. “Regular brushings, dental visits and care of dentures prevent teeth and gums from infections,” he informs. “Ignoring dental health can lead to gingivitis and also aggravate to tonsilitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, ear infections, and brain infections,” he warns. Bad oral health can also affect the joints, heart, kidneys and the skin. EXPOSURE TO NATURE “Sunshine has a lot to benefit our health,” he says. “ It activates some powerful hormones, serotonium – which make us feel good and removes depression, melatonium – which help us to sleep good and Vitamin D.” “Instead of popping vitamin pills, taking a small walk for a short distance can bring oodles of goodness,” Dr. Persaud says. These simple things can make a lot of difference says Dr. Persaud. He also reiterates that one should also eat right, exercise regularly and relax to achieve the desired goals. Dr. Persaud also recommends regular practice of smiling, laughing, praying meditating, appreciating beauty and music, which complement the above actions. “Most of these things cost nothing and help in building a positive attitude and puts you in top gear,” he says. amitabh.sharma@gleanerjm.com |
