Using the electronic labour exchangeOur research shows that employers are shying away from posting their jobs and would much rather view resumes which are posted online than cope with having thousands sent to them. In light of this , this week we visit with the Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MLSS) whose site is www.lmis-ele.org.jm- and discuss its use for the posting for résumé's. Geoffrey Sadler , job solicitor or employer service representative at the Ministry notes that the practice is for employers to provide criteria of what they need in terms of qualifications and what the job entails and ask for a matching from the Minstry's website. Posting your resume online is a ten minute exercise in which you will create your own professional resume and be able to print a copy for your own files. All resumes will be presented in a professional standard format. First time users will be requested to perform a one time registration process by selecting the menu option "Post a Resume" from the top menu bar. They will then be asked to create a user account. A simple registration form will be presented for completion. After completion and submitting the registration form, the user is allowed to login and proceed with the resume posting exercise. The Resume is divided into eight categories. For your convenience, the categories are presented of the left hand side of every page. You can always jump to any category during the process. You are not required to complete each category. The headings of the categories which are not completed will not appear on your resume. Resume Title & Personal Details Enter your career objective and personal details such as address, telephone, marital status and career level. Target Job Enter your preferred location, whether you wish to be full time or part time, your desired salary and a description of your ideal job. Work Status State your eligibility status for working in Jamaica Work Experience List your work experiences. Be as detailed as you like and list as many different work experiences as you wish. The prompts will assist you in listing multiple work experiences. Education Describe all your educational achievements. Be as detailed as you like and list as many educational qualifications as you wish. The prompts will assist you in listing multiple educational qualifications. Skills List all the special skills that you have attained. Project Description List all the task oriented projects that you have worked on. These should primarily be professional projects which were awarded or assigned to you. List the project description, deliverables, start and completion dates References List as many references as you like or tell us if you would rather furnish references on request.
