Are you stressed? Are you stressed? You may check yourself by answering 'yes' or 'no' to the following questions: Do you find yourself getting upset or irritated over insignificant matters? Do you find your emotions fluctuating often, or do you find that you feel happy or sad for no particular reason? Do you find yourself with-drawing from social activities and conversations with co-workers and instead spending more time in solitude thinking of your problems? Are you less tolerant of people's shortcomings and find that you are overacting in disagreements with co-workers, perhaps raising your voice or becoming aggressive? Do you feel intensely pressured by demanding customers and are you coming close to losing your cool with them? Do you shake your legs a lot or display other signs of nervousness or agitation of which you are not aware until someone draws your attention to it? Have you been finding it necessary to take sedatives or sleeping pills in order to relax and/or sleep with increasing frequency? Have you no friend or relative who can bail you out of a financial crisis, either completely or partially, should the need arise? Are the emotions of fear, worry and anxiety taking you over as you have no contingency plan in place in the event that a job loss occurs? If you answered 'yes' to three or more of these questions then your emotional stability rating is decreasing and you are in danger of displaying dysfunctional workplace behaviours. |
