UWI launches weekend degree programmes
Persons wanting to pursue a first degree in banking and finance or management studies (accounts) can now attend classes on Saturdays, as the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona, has launched its weekend degree programmes.
According to the UWI, the weekend degree programmes are attractive options for persons who wish to balance work and social responsibilities.
"Avoid the after-work hassle and study part-time on Saturdays to complete your degree in four years," said an advertisement in the May 17 edition of The Gleaner.
Transfer of application
According to the UWI, students who had already applied for the regular programme and wished to be considered for these programmes should write to the admissions section requesting a transfer of application.
Applicants who do not have a grade one in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate English language examination; or grade A in General Certificate of Education (GCE) English language; or grade one or two in the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination communication studies; or grade A in GCE general paper or equivalent must take the English Language Proficiency Test.
How to apply:
Applicants should ensure that they select 'Mona-Weekend' from the campus menu options. Supporting documents should then be submitted to the admissions section, UWI, Mona;
Download the application form at www.mona.uwi.edu/admissions/forms/ and submit the completed application form along with supporting documents.
Application submissions close on June 30.
