JHTA hopes to impose surcharge |
Janet Silvera, Hospitality Jamaica Coordinator writes an interesting
article on the problems rising fuel is causing players in the tourist
industry in Jamaica.
Faced with rising oil prices which seem poised to hit the US$100
mark by year-end, the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA)
is to meet today to discuss an urgent proposal to introduce a surcharge
on the island's accommodation sector.
In a letter seeking consensus among the membership of his association,
JHTA president, Wayne Cummings, said there is an impending crisis
due to the ever increasing price of crude oil and was asking for
an energy surcharge to offset.
