Thurs., April 20, 2006

The sentencing hearing for Matthews Lane resident, Donald “Zekes” Phipps has been postponed until May 16.

During this morning’s sitting in the Home Circuit Court, Defence Lawyer, K. Churchill Neita made an application for an adjournment.

According to him, the postponement will allow the defence time to present character evidence which will assist the judge in determining the appropriate sentence.

This morning the court was told that Phipps has 15 children, ranging in ages 5 to 27 years with some of them dependent on him for moral and financial support.

Last week, a jury found Phipps guilty of the murders of Rodney Leroy Farquharson and Dayton Williams, both of Bayshore Park, Eastern Kingston in April last year.
