Veteran actor Charles Hyatt is dead.

He died this morning after a very brief illness with cancer.

Mr. Hyatt also known as “Uncle Charlie�? was born on February 14, 1931.

A renowned actor, Mr. Hyatt who was born in Kingston featured in numerous local and overseas dramas and plays and was a resident actor at the Oxford Play House and the Phoenix Theatre in London for many years.

For 17 times he featured in the Little Theatre Movement’s Pantomime and was the host of several drama series broadcast on radio and television.

One of his programmes, Its Charlie’s Time was aired on Power 106.

Actress and broadcaster Fae Ellington has paid tribute to Charles Hyatt, whom she says was “the master of theatre�?.
