Education official scolds vendor
A vendor who sells from the gate of the Hazard Primary School in Clarendon was today reprimanded by an education ministry official.
The vendor was scolded for selling the controversial Gully/Gaza pins to students.
The Gully/Gaza pins comprise images of rival dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel and Mavado.
Vybz Kartel is the leader of the Gaza faction and Mavado the head of the Gully group.
In recent months the rivalry between supporters of both artistes has increased, in some cases triggering violent clashes among students.
It’s for this reason that Mary Nichols, the director for the education ministry’s region six was upset that the male vendor was selling the pins to students.
The vendor was also selling illegal DVDs.
After being scolded by the education ministry official, the vendor packed up his things and left the gate of the Hazard Primary School.
The education director was at the school for a function, the handing over ceremony of equipment and a resource room to the school.
The project was undertaken by the Digicel Foundation and Illuminat company.
