Fishermen sentencing put off
The sentencing for the two fishermen accused of being responsible for the burning death of three children in a house on September 14, 2004 has been put off.
The case is again to be heard on December 9.
A Home Circuit Court jury retired for more than two hours yesterday before convicting Rohan McCarty and Ricardo Britton, both of Port Henderson Lane addresses in St Catherine of the triple murder.
The Crown led evidence that on the morning of September 14, 2004, the men threw gasoline around Pansy Henry’s three-bedroom wooden house and then lit it with a bottle torch.
Henry testified that when the house caught fire, three of her children were burnt to death inside.
They were five-year-old twin boys Tyrique and Tyrone Henry and three-year-old Moesha Lee.
The woman told the court that about 1:15 on the morning of the incident she heard what sounded like liquid being poured around her house.
She said when she looked through a window; she saw the two accused in her yard.
The mother of the three dead children said the day before the incident she had a dispute with the two men and they had threatened to burn her house.
