Water woes to worsen in the Corporate Area

The water minister Dr Horace Chang is warning that the water woes in the Corporate Area will get worse.

In fact he said the water problem could become similar to levels last seen in 1988.

Dr Chang said the National Water Commission (NWC) will be trucking water to communities affected by the increasing lock-offs.

He also said his ministry is moving to fast track efforts to revive wells in the corporate areas, which have become dormant.

These options have become necessary because of the climate changes, which are influencing the availability of water.

According to Dr Chang, the water levels at some of the catchments facilities in Kingston and St Andrew are continuing to trend downward.

Dr Chang is warning that things will get even worse especially since the Mona Reservoir is now half, due to limited rainfall since September.
