Kartel lawyers to make bail application

Barbara Gayle, Staff Reporter

Lawyers representing controversial dancehall artiste, Vybz Kartel are expected to make a bail application on his behalf when he appears in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court today, in relation to the Clive Williams murder case.

Williams was reportedly beaten and stabbed in Havendale, St Andrew, on August 16, but the police have not located his body.

Last month, the investigating officer in the murder case told the court that the police have video and audio recordings linking Vybz Kartel, and his co-accused to the killing.

The investigating officer said the police also have eye witness statements connecting the men to the murder.

Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, is jointly charged with his stylist Calvin 'Moonie' Haye, deejay Shawn Storm, and Kiro Jones.

Yesterday, Kartel was offered bail in the Supreme Court by Justice Bertram Morrison in relation to another murder case.

In that case, he is accused of killing St. Catherine businessman, Barrington Burton.

However, Kartel failed to take up the $3 million bail granted to him because of the charge against him in the Clive Williams case.
