Starting tomorrow a section of the Whitehouse main road in Westmoreland will be closed to vehicular traffic.

The National Works Agency (NWA) says the roadway will be closed in the vicinity of the Gillings Gully and will remain closed for approximately eight weeks.

The closure is to facilitate drain improvement work, including the replacement of a box culvert that has caused flooding in the community.

The NWA says motorists will be re-routed onto a detour road, which has been constructed in the vicinity of the Gillings Gully.

Motorists are being advised to obey the posted warning signs and the instructions of flag persons while construction work is in progress.
