Nato says no to taxi fare increase
The National Association of Taxi Operators (NATO) says it will not be requesting a fare increase despite the fact that three other associations have indicated they will.
Yesterday NCOTA and the RTAJ announced that they would be asking for an adjustment within the next 2 weeks.
The Jamaica Association Of Transport Owners and Operators (JATOO) had already said it would request a 40 per cent increase and submitted its application yesterday.
But President of the National Association of Taxi Operators Michael Morgan says his group will not seek an increase, although the government has indicated it will not be rolling back the tax on gas.
Morgan says he’s still awaiting a response to a request he made in January for a meeting with Transport Minister Dr. Omar Davies.
