Transport Minister Dr. Omar Davies says work on the three mega projects will go on, despite a pending legal battle between the Contractor General and the Attorney General regarding the setting up of an independent oversight panel.

The panel was set up to oversee the North-South Link of the Highway 2000 Project, the Gordon Cay Container Trans-Shipment Hub Project, and the Fort Augusta Container Terminal Project.

The Contractor General Greg Christie is seeking to get information from the panel on its oversight activities relating to the projects.

However, Attorney General Patrick Atkinson said he will be challenging the validity of the law under which Christie is seeking to get information.

Dr. Davies said the matter is now in the hands of the Attorney General.

However, he said the legal challenge is not likely to affect the progress of the three government projects.

The transport minister is scheduled to sign the contract for the North-South link of Highway 2000 tomorrow.

In the meantime, Dr. Davies said the three-member panel has indicated in writing that it will not be reporting to the Contractor General.

He said the panel has described as unacceptable the request by Christie that written reports on its oversight activities be submitted to his office.

The Contractor General said his office has sought legal advice as to what action to take in response to the legal challenge by the Attorney General.
