LaRocque to meet J’can business leaders

The issue of the trade imbalance between Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago is expected to be the focus of attention during a meeting to be attended by CARICOM Secretary General Irwin LaRocque at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, New Kingston on Friday.

The meeting is being organized by management consultants Strategic Corporate Interventions Limited as part of the company’s power breakfast series, according to a release.

Another issue to be aired relates to views as to whether CARICOM as a regional entity continues to be relevant.

The meeting will afford leaders and executives in the business community, particularly in the areas of trade and industry, an opportunity to engage a Caribbean leader on a one-and-one basis, the release said.

Christopher Samuda, President of Strategic Corporate Interventions and a partner of the law firm Samuda & Johnson said:

“We believe that the time is now to provide a forum and the context for dialogue on a critical issue which goes well beyond the boundaries of nationality and national economies and is critical to regional relations and unity”.

The release said space at the venue is limited and participants must register.
