West Indies against New Zealand at Sabina Park this week
West Indies touched down in Jamaica this morning to begin preparation for the first two One-Day Internationals against New Zealand, starting this week.
The Caribbean side is on a high after its clean sweep of the two Twenty20 Internationals in Florida at the weekend.
West Indies face New Zealand in the opening One Day International at Sabina Park on Thursday, before playing the second game two days later at the same venue.
For the One-Day matches, West Indies selectors have called up Jamaican all-rounder Andre Russell and fast bowler Tino Best of Barbados to the 13-man squad.
Both players participated in the recent One Day International series in England but were overlooked for the two Twenty20 International games in Florida, which West Indies won.
The squad also includes two other Jamaicans. They are hard-hitting opener Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels.
Leg-spinner Samuel Badree and fast bowler Fidel Edwards, who featured in the Twenty20 matches at the weekend have been dropped.
Regular captain Darren Sammy will lead the squad. The last three One Day Internationals are set for Warner Park in St Kitts.
The remaining members of the squad are Dwayne Bravo, Johnson Charles, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Denesh Ramdin, Ravi Rampaul, Lendl Simmons and Dwayne Smith.
New Zealand players are scheduled to touch down later this afternoon. |
