Asafa Powell's place has been confirmed in the Olympic 100m finals.

Powell qualified as one of the fastest losers in the semi-final run-offs. The former World Champion ran 9.94s to finish third, behind the United States' Justin Gatlin who won in 9.82s and The Netherlands' Churandy Martina second in 9.91s.

Powell will join team mates Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake in the marquee showdown event scheduled for 3:50 p.m. local time.
