Mayor Harris addresses Cornwall issues

The Mayor of Montego Bay, Glendon Harris is dismissing claims that the construction of the King Street to Green Pond roadway in St. James is a health hazard and crime threat.

These concerns were raised by the Jamaica Labour Party caretaker for St. James Central, Heroy Clarke.

Clarke says residents have complained to him about uncontrolled dust in the area when it’s dry.

He said when it rains the area becomes a mud hole.

However, Mayor Harris said the inconvenience cannot be avoided since the road is under construction.

Last Monday, the access road was blocked by taxi-operators and frustrated residents in protest over its poor state.

The National Works Agency has since resumed work on the roadway.

The corridor is one of three access points used by residents of the Cornwall Court community.
