Fire destroys houses in Clarendon

Lionel Town Police are probing a fire at the Sugar Industry of Jamaica in Clarendon which gutted 11 housing units.

They say loss has been estimated at $6.5 million.

It’s reported that yesterday morning residents reported a loss of electricity at a section of the premises.

Smoke was later seen coming from the building which then became engulfed in flames.

The police and firefighters were alerted.

The blaze was extinguished by two units from the Lionel Town Fire Department.
