Vaz, Forbes, Bicknell back in court

The three high-profile figures charged with corruption arising from a traffic offence are to return to court today.

Member of Parliament for West Portland Daryl Vaz, Senior Superintendent James Forbes, and businessman Bruce Bicknell are each out on $250,000 bail.

The men were brought before the court following a ruling by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The case relates to the alleged bribing of Sergeant Jubert Llewellyn by the businessman and the other men’s reported attempts to have Bicknell absolved.

Forbes and Bicknell are charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice, while Vaz has been charged with breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act.

They have denied the allegations against them.
