UPDATE: Second slain St James woman was also pregnant

The second woman who was among four people slain in two incidents in St James last night was also pregnant.

It is reported that about 7:30 p.m, 37-year-old Ashmara Plummer who lives in Granville was about three months pregnant.

The police say last night she was playing bingo at her home with 71-year-old Alvin Reid when they were murdered by gunmen.

In another incident two hours later, 19-year-old Channelle Davis, who was eight months pregnant, was shot dead by gunmen.

Davis’ boyfriend 36-year-old Easton Chambers was also killed in that incident.

The police say the two were killed by unknown assailants at a Jerk Centre in the Spring Mount community.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Devon Watkis, there are clear indications that the murders were carried out by gang members involved in the Lottery Scam.

Watkis, who is charge of the Area One Police, says based on preliminary information, the four murders were gang related.
