Security review at Petrojam progressing - Paulwell
Energy Minister Phillip Paulwell says the comprehensive review of the security measures at the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica (Petrojam) is progressing.
Security measures at Petrojam were called into question after investigations pointed to illegal activities, as the cause for the release of hazardous fumes along the Portmore Toll Road in St. Catherine in June.
Paulwell said among other things, the security review at the refinery is aimed at addressing the illegal distribution of fuel.
He said he is awaiting data from oil marketing companies, which will indicate those who are responsible for illegal activities relating to the distribution of petroleum.
The energy minister is reminding that the ministry has the authority to cease and nullify the licences granted to distributors who are found in breach.
