OUR to review JPS report
The Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) has given itself until the end of November to complete an investigation of the integrity and reliability of the electricity transmission system operated by the Jamaica Public Service Company Limited (JPS).
The OUR says the decision to conduct the investigation follows its initial probe into the islandwide outage over the Independence weekend and the analysis of the preliminary technical report submitted to it by the JPS.
It says the analysis has revealed that the transmission system’s protection employed by the JPS failed to operate in accordance with design.
And the regulator says there’s now a need to review the stability and integrity of the system.
