The South East Regional Health Authority is advising members of the public that the chicken and other products which were retrieved from the Rio Cobre in St Catherine following a recent motor vehicle accident are not fit for human consumption.

The authority says there’s a possibility of contamination from the river as well as multiplication of Salmonella species and other types of bacteria in these products.

It says if consumed, individuals put themselves at great risk of contracting food-borne illness.

The health authority says sale and use of these products for human consumption is strictly prohibited, in the interest of public health and safety.
