Still no water for 100,000 NWC customers
An estimated 100,000 customers of the National Water Commission (NWC) are still without water, according to vice president David Geddes.
While unable to say at this time when supply will be fully restored, he said the Commission is working assiduously to return water to all its customers.
Geddes says a number of the NWC’s facilities are still without electricity, posing a serious challenge to its restoration efforts. He says its Mona facilities in St Andrew has been the worst affected by Hurricane Sandy, leaving many areas including Papine and surrounding communities without water.
Geddes says the NWC has been diverting supply from other areas in order to alleviate some of the problems. He says since Wednesday, for instance, water supply to the Washington Boulevard in St Andrew was being shared with Portmore, St Catherine.
He is urging patience as the NWC works to fully restore supply to all its customers. |
