95 per cent of roads reopened

The National Works Agency (NWA) is reporting that more than 95 per cent of the 176 roadways made impassable by the passage of Hurricane Sandy have now been reopened to at least single lane traffic.

Communications and customer services manager at the NWA, Stephen Shaw says most of the roadways which remain impassable are located in St. Thomas and Portland.

In St Ann the Fern Gully main road is still impassable in the vicinity of its intersection with Breadnut Hill.

The NWA says a large fallen tree is blocking the roadway.

And the NWA is advising motorists and residents that while the tropical storm has passed they still need to exercise due care on the roadways which were affected.
