LIME offers free calls to US following Sandy

Telecommunications company LIME is offering postpaid residential landline customers 15 minutes of free talk time from noon today to midnight to call their relatives in the United States, following the passage of Hurricane Sandy.

LIME says during these hours LIME customers across the region can make one call or several calls totaling fifteen minutes to the US.

"The Caribbean has a large diaspora base in the US and particularly the States affected by Sandy," said Garry Sinclair, Managing Director, LIME Jamaica and Cayman.

"We are very happy to offer this special ‘connection moment’ to our customers which we feel will go a far way in helping them to cope with the terrifying effects of the storm."

Meanwhile, LIME says it is now able to focus more of its resources on the eastern end of the island badly-affected by Hurricane Sandy, having made significant improvements in service restoration to the rest of the country.

The company says its technicians have been working to steadily restore landline, Internet and mobile coverage to pre-Hurricane levels.
