Water systems under pressure as country faces drought
The National Water Commission (NWC) is reporting that some of its systems are already faced with significant challenges as the country experiences a three-month drought.
Corporate public relations manager at the NWC, Charles Buchanan, says while the storage facilities at some of its 460 systems across the island were at good levels, there are others that are at very low levels.
But he has given no details about the percentage of water supply systems that were affected.
Buchanan says the organisation is working to put in place conservation measures to mitigate any likely negative implication from the low rainfall.
He is also advising persons to play their part by conserving water. |
