Former workers of Lamasa Janitorial Limited say they are growing impatient with the company, after it again failed to turn up for discussions on settling outstanding payments.

The parties were to return to the Ministry of Labour on Friday but no one representing Lamasa showed up for the meeting.

National Workers’ Union President, Vincent Morrison, said this left workers disappointed and upset.

Morrison said the former employees are anxious to finalise an agreement as they have been waiting for sometime now to get their money.

He said he is frustrated that the discussions with Lamasa have been dragging on for so long.

The more than 400 workers at Lamasa lost their jobs when the company’s contract with the Government ended in mid December.

Morrison said the company was aware that its contract with the government was coming to an end and as such it should have taken the necessary preparations to settle financial obligations to workers.

He said the labour ministry is now working to schedule another meeting.
