Eight killed in road crashes since January 10

The Road Safety Unit in the Ministry of Transport is reporting that eight persons have been killed in road crashes as of January 10.

The unit said up to that date there were a total of six road crashes.

It says statistics show that number of deaths represents a 38 per cent decrease when compared with the similar period in 2012.

The figure remains flat in relation to road crashes.

Meanwhile, the road safety unit said four males and four females were killed in the six crashes.

Four of the victims were passengers in private vehicles, three pedestrians and one private motor vehicle driver.

The data shows that three deaths occurred in Trelawny and one each in Kingston, St. Catherine, St. Ann, Hanover and Westmoreland.
