Update: Youth ministry director murdered in Spanish Town

The police have provided more details into last night's murder of the Director of Corporate Services at the Ministry of Youth and culture Sean Thompson.

The police say the 45-year-old was killed by gunmen in a silver motor car while approaching his gate in Angels St. Catherine about 11.30 p.m. last night.

He is said to have received more than 20 gunshots.

Our news centre understands that Thompson was the Manager of the Meadows Football club and also taught mathematics in the volatile Tawes Pen community in Spanish Town.

In the meantime, the Ministry of Youth and Culture said arrangements are being made for grief counselling to be available for Thompson’s co-workers.

Hanna has expressed shock and regret at Thompson’s death.

Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Sydney Bartley, said the news and tragic circumstances of Thompson’s passing will be difficult for the entire ministry and its management and staff to deal with.
