Australia beat Sri Lanka to tie series

Phil Hughes returned to form with a century to help lead Australia to a series leveling 32-run win over Sri Lanka in the fifth and final One-Day cricket international at the Bellerive Oval today. The series ended in a 2-2 tie.

The diminutive left-hander cracked 138 off 154 balls to help Australia post a winning total of 247 for five after being put in to bat.

David Hussey chipped in with 34 from 39 balls,

Needing 248 runs for victory, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 215 with nine balls remaining.

Xavier Doherty and Moises Henriques took three wickets each for Australia.

Doherty had three for 21 off 8 overs, while Henriques took three for 32 off 10. Clint McKay and Mitchell Johnson supported with two wickets apiece.

Angelo Mathews top scored for Sri Lanka with 67, while Mahela Jayawardene, playing his last game as captain, scored 38.

Australia were missing skipper Michael Clarke who failed a late fitness test on a twisted ankle.

The tour ends with two Twenty20 games in Sydney on Saturday and Melbourne on Monday.
