WESTERN BUREAU:
Erik Nicolaisen, the man who Americanized the Jamaican dialect, in the 'Get In. Get Happy' VW Super Bowl commercial, is expected to arrive in Jamaica today.

He is scheduled to arrive around noon at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, where he will be met by Jamaica Tourist Board officials.

Nicknamed, 'Respec, Boss Man', Nicolaisen will launch a social media 'Jamaica Mi Happy' campaign for the JTB, while on island.

"He will do a series of tours while on the island and will visit attractions such as the Dunn's River Falls and Mystic Mountain," Jamaica's director of tourism, John Lynch told The Gleaner.

Nicolaisen, whose love affair with the Jamaican culture started between age 8 or 9 years old, will also be hosted at a welcome reception in Kingston Wednesday night.

"If the promotion picks up traction, the visibility will be enormous for Jamaica," said the tourism director .

Nicolaisen shot to fame when the VW went viral attracting millions of views within days after release.

The use of the Jamaican accent in the commercial was praised by millions, and criticized by few.
