UPDATE: Opposition Senator Arthur Williams accidentally shot self
Livern Barrett, Gleaner Writer
Details are emerging that the gunshot wound sustained by Opposition Senator Arthur Williams early this morning was accidentally inflicted.
Williams was injured about 1:15 a.m after a meeting with friends at Chasers Cafe in New Kingston.
An eye-witness said Williams placed his hand into his pocket twice and on the second occasion, an explosion was heard.
It was then discovered that the Senator had been grazed on his right knee.
The eyewitness said Williams was given first aid treatment on spot before he left the venue.
In the meantime, police detectives say they have been getting little cooperation from Williams in their investigation.
A short while ago, the Jamaica Labour Party issued an official statement on the matter.
However, the party has since recalled the statement.
