CAPI calls for police commissioner to probe threats against Meadows

The lobby group Citizens Action For Principle and Integrity CAPI) has written to Commissioner of Police Owen Ellington requesting that threats against its co-convenor Dennis Meadows be investigated.

According to a statement this afternoon from Hugh Fagan, "Mr Meadows has been receiving cell phone threats against his person since his strident advocacy against the move by the government to drawdown $44B from the NHT."

Fagan, who is a co-convenor of CAPI, said “while Mr Meadows is of the view that these threats are vale, we felt it necessary to formally advise police on the matter, given the violent culture of our society".

He added that "CAPI is not of the view that this may be an organized effort on the part of the government, but rather, the work of some silly sympathizer". However, Fagan said steps have been taken "to ensure the security of his colleague and his family while urging the police to immediately investigate the matter".

So far the response from the police high command has been swift and professional, Fagan said.
