A fire at an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) at the Jamaica National Building Society in Morant Bay, St Thomas disrupted business shortly after 12:30 this afternoon.
Customers and staff quickly evacuated the building society when thick black smoke was seen coming from the roof of the adjoining ATM.
It is reported that a maintenance team was carrying out repairs on the ATM using a torch and flammable liquid.
The maintenance personnel were able to get the fire under control with the use of a fire extinguisher and the Fire Brigade called to put it.
Their quick response restricted to the damage to the ATM.
