The Jamaica Air Traffic Controllers’ Association is to review its wage claim to determine whether it will accept the government's wage freeze proposal.
The association had originally rejected the wage freeze.
President Kurt Solomon says yesterday members again met with transport minister, Dr. Omar Davies, and minister with responsibility for the public service, Horace Dalley, to discuss the group's 2012-2014 wage claim.
However, he says air traffic controllers were once again told that a public sector wide wage restraint would be implemented and that other workers have already decided to forego an increase over the next three years.
Solomon says there could be protests by the air traffic controllers, if they are unable to reach a favourable agreement with the Government.
Solomon says the air traffic controllers maintain they are not paid from tax dollars but from fees collected by their employer, the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority.
But he says the Government is insisting the group will not be treated different from other public sector workers.
Solomon says despite imposing a wage freeze on public sector workers, the Government has not clearly communicated to them the measures it intends to implement to cushion its effects.
