Gunmen rob Garvey Maceo athletes at gunpoint

The police are still carrying out investigations into an overnight robbery by alleged gunmen at the May Pen-based Garvey Maceo High School in Clarendon.

Acting-principal, Madgeeta Pinto, says 30 male student-athletes preparing for the Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships now underway were on their dormitory at the time.

She says at least one of the boys sustained minor injuries.

Pinto explains that the students were unable to identify any of the robbers as they wore masks.

The acting principal says counselling has been provided and the education ministry has been informed of the matter.

In the meantime, Pinto says security will be boosted in light of last night’s incident.
