Special arrangements in place for tax day today
Tax Administration Jamaica has put in place special arrangements to accommodate an expected spike in customers wishing to file last-minute Income Tax Returns at its tax offices today.
All companies, self-employed persons, and employed persons with additional sources of income are required to file their Annual Income Tax Return for 2012 and to declare their estimated income for 2013 by the close of business today.
Director of Communications at Tax Administration Jamaica, Meris Haughton, says given the expected rush today, special arrangements have been put in place at Tax Offices across the island and at its Customer Care Centre.
Meanwhile, persons filing income tax returns today will have the benefit of doing so an hour beyond the normal 3 o’clock closing time at 21 Tax Offices across the island.
Business persons are also urged to call 1-888-TAX-HELP up to 7 o’clock this evening, to register for online filing or to get assistance to prepare and file their returns online.
Haughton is warning taxpayers there will be no extension of today's filing deadline.
She says returns filed after today will be considered late and may attract a penalty or sanctions.
